Born and raised in Ames, Iowa, Aubree Petersen began studying piano at the age of six. These early musical studies led her to a multiplicity of experiences she could never have anticipated. In addition to consistent honors and high theory test scores earned at the local Iowa Music Teacher Association (IMTA) pre-college auditions, in 2017 Aubree was selected as the pianist for the Iowa All-State Band.
She participated in band and choir from elementary through high school, sang in the Brigham Young University (BYU) Women’s Chorus for two years, and performed as the pianist in the BYU Symphonic Band for a semester. In addition to participation in BYU ensembles, Aubree collaborated with numerous vocalists and instrumentalists in private lessons, juries, and recitals. She also developed a passion for conducting.
Aubree's prominent piano teachers include Dr. Janci Bronson of Iowa State University, and Drs. Robin Hancock and Jared Pierce of Brigham Young University. She graduated from BYU with her Bachelor's of Music in Piano Performance and currently works as a private lesson teacher, ballet accompanist, and collaborative pianist.
When she has free time, Aubree enjoys being with family, playing games, decorating cakes, painting, and going to the theatre. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she also enjoys worshipping with and serving the members in her congregation. Aubree continues to practice and study music theory on her own, always striving to learn and improve. Through her teaching and performing, she aims to create a space for everyone to discover the joys of music.
